The family photographs

Wherever you feel comfortable. Most families choose the terrace of their villa, a beach in the Gulf (Canoubiers, Nartelle, Pampelonne, Gigaro), or the old streets of Saint-Tropez. I cover the whole Gulf — Saint-Tropez, Sainte-Maxime, Grimaud, La Croix-Valmer, Cavalaire-sur-Mer, Ramatuelle, Gassin, Les Issambres — including gated private estates such as Les Parcs de Saint-Tropez and Cap Bénat. I also work along the Corniche des Maures (Bormes-les-Mimosas, Le Lavandou, Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer) for families staying somewhere quieter.

The number of people gives the first indication, because it determines the time required. Five people fit into 45 minutes. Twelve do not — there is the whole group, each family, each couple, and that takes an hour and a half.

Two to five people: Harmonie Méditerranée. Six to eight: Complicité Tropézienne. Nine to twelve: Héritage Familial. Thirteen to sixteen: Constellation Premium, or Constellation Signature for the complete session. Beyond sixteen, we move to a bespoke format.

The number of photographs matters too. A family of six who want sixty images will choose a higher package than a family of ten who want twenty-five. Call me and we will find it in two minutes.

It depends on the place. On the beach, mornings between 9 and 11, or late afternoon from 5pm onwards — fewer people and ideal light. In the streets of Saint-Tropez or Grimaud, early morning or evening to avoid the crowds. At a villa, we can start from 9am and work with morning or late afternoon light. We settle it together, around your schedule and the age of your children.

It is the most frequent configuration. Harmonie Méditerranée (45 minutes) and Complicité Tropézienne (1 hour 15) are designed for exactly that. We do the group, the pairs, and when I photograph the couple the child stays close by — sitting beside you, in your arms, or playing where we can both see. On the beach I always keep an eye on safety. You leave with photographs you would never have managed with a phone.

Yes. From the age of three, children take to it very easily. I put them at ease within minutes. For the very youngest, we favour the morning after breakfast or late afternoon when it is cooler. No forced poses: we play, we laugh, and the photographs come naturally. I adapt to their rhythm, not the other way round.

It happens — I am a stranger to him, that is normal. Nothing is forced. I ask everyone to turn around with him, or to pull the same face. That is usually when he starts to smile. If he is shy we give him time, and towards the end, once he is in the mood, we do a short series just for him. Honestly, a child sulking in the photographs is often the funniest memory to look back on five or ten years later.

I arrive and take the time to get to know everyone. Then, often, I start with the grandparents — a look, a kiss, something complicit. It makes the children laugh and relaxes everyone. After that we move through it: the whole group, each family, the couples, the siblings. I place everyone physically and show them how to stand. Within minutes, everyone is relaxed.

The number of setups depends on the package. On a Constellation Signature I add a second setup for every child, every couple composed within the setting, and every parent with each of their children. That is what the extra thirty minutes are for.

It is one of my favourite sessions. Beyond sixteen people the session becomes bespoke: three hours, a composed setup for each family and each couple, a portrait of each of you, and the whole group. From €2,290.

The arithmetic is simple: with twenty people there is the whole group, four or five sub-families, as many couples, the siblings, and the portraits. That comes to around twenty setups. Two hours will not cover it — three will. Call me and we will shape the format together.

Coordinated outfits, not necessarily identical. By the sea, blues and whites work very well. At a villa, natural colours are excellent — white, beige, sand, or greens. Pastels are a good choice anywhere — pale blue, powder pink, sea green. Avoid logos and fluorescent colours. And bring sunglasses for everyone, children included — squinting never photographs well. You remain entirely free.

Yes, and many families do — thirty, fifty, sometimes seventy more images once they see the result. They are ordered directly from your gallery, at a sliding rate.

You can also unlock the complete gallery: every image from your session, a great deal more than your package includes, all already retouched, in colour and in black and white. It is the question large families ask me most often, and it is frequently the best choice when everyone is heading back to a different country.

Yes. Every package already includes a selection of prints, and you can add as many as you like from your private gallery — from 10×15 to 60×90 cm, on prestige photo paper, matt or gloss, with or without a white border. My recommendation: matt with a white border. The border sets the photograph off, and matt avoids reflections and fingerprints.

For walls, the gallery also offers canvas, aluminium and plexiglass, up to 90×150 cm. Preferential rates are sent to you when your gallery goes live. Shipping worldwide, to several addresses if your family is heading back to five different countries.

We move it to the next day or the day after. That is why I always suggest scheduling the session around the third or fourth day of your stay — if the weather does not cooperate, there is room to reschedule without stress. In twenty years, rain during a session has been extremely rare.

Two to three weeks before you arrive is ideal — some families book two or three months ahead for the summer. But I often have last-minute availability. Get in touch and I will make it work. I reply within 24 hours, often within 2.

It is simple. We speak on the phone first — I note your dates, the address, the family configuration. A 50% deposit confirms the session: I send you a secure SumUp link by SMS and you pay in a few taps. You then receive a confirmation email with every detail of your session, along with my preparation guide. The balance is settled on the day, in cash or by card on my iPhone (contactless). No non-refundable deposit, no hidden commitment.

Your private gallery goes live within 48 to 72 hours. Every photograph is there in colour and in black and white, already retouched. You make your selection, and your high-resolution files are delivered within 24 hours. Prints are produced from your selection and shipped within 5 to 7 working days, in France and worldwide — including to several addresses. The gallery stays open for 3 months.

Yes, throughout the Gulf of Saint-Tropez — from Cavalaire to Sainte-Maxime, taking in Saint-Tropez, Pampelonne, Ramatuelle, Gassin, Grimaud, La Croix-Valmer and Les Issambres.
